Microneedling - Naples FL

Microneedling - What is it?

Microneedling is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure. It involves pricking the skin with tiny sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger. You might also hear it called "collagen induction therapy".

Microneedling, also known as a "controlled injury". Our microneedling pens work to place micro holes in your skin in order to start the "healing" process for your skin in order to promote more collagen and elastin in your skin. The hole are SO tiny, you cant even see them! Microneedling may work better for people with darker skin tones because it doesn’t involve heat the way laser treatments do, which can affect your skin’s pigmentation, or color.

The goal of the procedure is to start your body’s healing process by sending collagen and elastin to patch up the tiny injuries. Collagen helps fill in and smooth out wrinkles. Most people get microneedling on the face, but it can also done on other parts of the body, such as your stomach or thighs.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that treats skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. Microneedling is excellent for product penetration and can be combined with other treatments such as PRP!

Also known as "collagen induction therapy" microneedling helps benefit your skin in various ways. One of the most known benefits is the production of collagen and elastin in your skin. As we age, our collagen begins to reduce. In fact, after the age of 30, our collagen levels actually decrease by 50%. Microneedling or "collagen induction therapy" helps revitalize your skin and rebuild the natural collagen and elastin within your skin. It's recommended that you are consistent with microneedling, every 4 weeks, in order to see the best results.

Microneedling is used to treat a variety of skin conditions that cause depressions in the skin such as acne scarring. If you want to get the best results possible from your procedure then you should avoid applying makeup for a week. By doing so you can prevent skin irritation from harsh ingredients in cosmetic products. This will allow your skin to breathe and fully recover from the microneedling session.

BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY

Microneedling devices can penetrate the skin to a depth of 0.25 mm to 3 mm. Microneedling uses needles that are 0.5 mm to 2.5 mm long to create micro-wounds or channels in the skin. The needles are designed to penetrate the stratum corneum without reaching the skin's nerve fibers. The generally agreed upon effective depth range for microneedling is 0.10 mm to 3 mm, but some say that a depth of 1.0 to 1.5 mm is very effective. Deeper microneedling can cause more skin injury, increased discomfort, and a longer recovery time.

DEPTH & EFFECTIVENESS

The depth of microneedling depends on the area being treated and can range from 0.10 mm to 3 mm. Fine lines and scaring may be treated with a medium needle depth (approximately 1.0 mm). Deep acne scarring, surgical and deeper scars, wrinkles, pore size and skin texture can be treated with the deepest needle depth (approximately 1.5mm to 2.0mm). Shallow microneedling is suitable for minor issues and overall skin enhancement, while medium and deep microneedling is more effective for addressing moderate to severe skin concerns.

RESULTS DRIVEN TREATMENT

Some results may be visible immediately, while others may take up to six weeks to fully develop. Most people need between three and six treatments to see the final results. Factors that affect how long results last include: Age, Body's cellular turnover rate, How skin has been treated in the past, and Skin care. Some tips for maximizing microneedling results include: Keeping skin clean and hydrated, Avoiding direct sunlight and wearing sunscreen, Being patient with makeup application, Avoiding strenuous exercise and heat exposure, and Following the provider's instructions.

FAQ'S

When will I begin to see results?

Generally, patients notice tightening, and a more even tone to their skin, a week or two after their first session. For areas with deeper imperfections, results can be subtler, and additional treatments are usually required. Since Micro-needling stimulates new collagen and elastin production, these results will continue to build for up to 6 months.

Does Microneedling tighten your skin?

Yes, microneedling can tighten skin. Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting thin needles into the skin to create micro-wounds. This triggers the body's natural healing response, which can lead to the production of more collagen and elastin, which can tighten the skin.

Is Microneedling painful?

Microneedling procedures aren't painful, but they can be uncomfortable, especially for patients who may be afraid of needles. Microneedling uses tiny needlepoints to create punctures within the dermis; doing so helps encourage the body's collagen and elastin production, leading to younger and smoother-looking skin.

What does the procedure involve?

The skin is cleaned and numbing cream may be applied to lessen discomfort. For better results, we use collagen-stimulating products like Hyaluronic Acid, Growth Factor serum during the procedure. A small handheld pen-like device with a sterile, disposable tip with 12 tiny needles is then used to pierce the skin. After the treatment, a Growth Factor serum or Hyaluronic acid is used to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.

Risks of post-op infections?

Since the tiny pricking channels close within one hour and provided the procedure is done under clinical conditions, post-op infections are extremely unlikely.
